Giant Water Spider

Giant Water Spider, Megadolomedes spp. This huge spider can grow to the size of a human hand. They are usually seen on the edge of freshwater streams with their head down and their font legs in the water flowing by. (as pictured) They are often noticed on the cement or wood on bridges and causeways across water. They hunt for fish and aquatic invertebrates. They are capable of hunting on the surface of the water. They are found all over Australia and can be common along freshwater streams through lowland tropical rainforest.
