Ernie Raymont. Life for rainforest Aborigines was unique. Ngadjonji elder Ernie Raymont grew up in the rainforests of Tropical North Queensland.
He will share with you from his storehouse of local knowledge how the forests provided
for food, shelter, weapons and homewares.
On this fascinating walk you will discover Brush Turkey nests, turtles, and many bird species. You could even spy rainforest kangaroos, platypus, rare tree climbing kangaroos, pythons, water goannas and forest 'dragons'. Learn how to spot stinging trees and their antidote. The Aborigines nomadic lifestyle was in harmony with the trees fruiting seasons.
You will discover what can be eaten and when, where to search for tasty witchetty grubs
and how to find water in the most surprising places. After this you'll never view a rainforest 'bushwalk' the same.
